OSU stays alive with 6-4 win over Marist

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Matt Streng drove in the winning run, Jake Hale picked up his 17th save of the season and Big Ten champion Ohio State avoided elimination with a 6-4 victory over Marist on Saturday.

Michael Arp doubled and Streng’s sacrifice fly to center broke a 4-4 tie in the sixth inning. Streng added an RBI single for an insurance run in the eighth inning.

The third-seeded Buckeyes (41-18) improved to 35-1 when leading after seven innings.

Marist (31-28) had tied the game in the top of the sixth on George Agostini’s second home run of the season, a solo shot to right. The Red Foxes outhit the Buckeyes 10-7, but were hitless in 3 2-3 innings against relievers Drew Rucinski and Hale.
