Revolution edge United
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — Steve Ralston’s penalty kick in the 90th minute snapped a tie and gave the New England Revolution a 2-1 victory over D.C. United that ended a six-match winless streak.
Taylor Twellman earned the penalty kick for the Revolution as he was fouled by United defender Bryan Namoff. Ralston then beat goalkeeper Josh Wicks from the 12-yard spot with a shot to the lower-right corner for the go-ahead goal as New England (3-3-4) got its first victory since beating FC Dallas on April 4.
D.C. United (3-2-7) had a seven-match unbeaten streak snapped.
Brazilian midfielder Fred staked D.C. to a 1-0 lead with a goal in the 36th minute, only to have Shalrie Joseph tie it in the 55th minute.
