Sabres sign draft pick Byron
BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Buffalo Sabres have signed forward Paul Byron to a three-year, entry level contract prior to a 5 p.m. Monday deadline which would have sent the player back into the NHL draft had he remained unsigned.
The 20-year-old Byron, Buffalo’s sixth-round selection in the 2007 draft, had 33 goals in 64 games this past season with the Gatineau Olympiques of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. He also ranked fourth in the league with 99 points.
