Preakness winner works out; next start not set
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Preakness winner Rachel Alexandra has had another workout at Churchill Downs, but the filly’s next race is not yet set.
Rachel Alexandra worked six furlongs in 1:13.80 over a fast track with exercise rider Dominic Terry aboard Monday. Last week, the 3-year-old filly went four furlongs in her first workout since winning the Preakness on May 16.
Trainer Steve Asmussen says the filly rode beautifully and “seems very happy.”
Co-owner Jess Jackson has mentioned the Mother Goose Stakes at Belmont on June 27 as the next possible start.
