Staal and Kennedy score, Penguins beat Red Wings 2-1 to force Game 7 in Cup finals

Pens stay alive with 2-1 win, force Game 7 vs. Det
PITTSBURGH — Jordan Staal and Tyler Kennedy scored, and Marc-Andre Fleury made 25 saves as the Pittsburgh Penguins forced Game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals by beating the defending champion Detroit Red Wings 2-1 on Tuesday night.
Coming off a 5-0 loss at Detroit on Saturday, the Penguins got a goal from Staal in the opening minute of the second period and one from Kennedy 5:35 into the third to make home teams 6 for 6 in these finals.
Detroit now has the upper hand as it shoots for its second straight championship over the Penguins, 12th overall in team history and fifth in 12 seasons Friday night at Joe Louis Arena.
Kris Draper cut the Red Wings’ deficit to 2-1 at 8:01 of the third.
