Tanasugarn beats Wickmayer to retain Ordina title
DEN BOSCH, Netherlands — Tamarine Tanasugarn of Thailand has become the first player to successfully defend the Ordina Open women’s title by beating Yanina Wickmayer 6-3 7-5.
Tanasugarn broke the 19-year-old Belgian in the seventh and ninth games of the first set on Saturday. Wickmayer fought back in the second set but dropped serve twice.
Tanasugarn defeated top-seeded Dinara Safina of Russia in the semifinals.
Later Sunday, Raemon Sluiter of Netherlands faced Benjamin Becker of Germany in the men’s final.
