Rockies place Corpas on 15-day DL
DENVER — Rockies setup man Manuel Corpas was placed on the 15-day disabled list Saturday with inflammation in his right elbow.
An MRI exam Friday revealed a floating bone chip in his right elbow. Corpas got a cortisone shot and was shut down for the weekend, but no surgery has been scheduled.
Colorado manager Jim Tracy said that he wasn’t ruling out surgery, but “I’m not saying today it’s going to happen, because we want to wait.”
Corpas threw a scoreless eighth inning in each of his past two games. He leads the team with 33 appearances.
The Rockies will use left-hander Alan Embree or right-hander Matt Daley to set up closer Huston Street until Corpas returns.
Tracy said a corresponding roster move would be made after Saturday night’s game with Pittsburgh.
