Our Edge holds off Gone Astray to capture $70,000 Coronado’s Quest Stakes at Monmouth Park

Our Edge earns tough win at Monmouth Park feature

OCEANPORT, N.J. — Our Edge outdueled Gone Astray in the stretch to win the $70,000 Coronado’s Quest Stakes by a head at Monmouth Park on Saturday.

Trained by Nick Zito and ridden by Elvis Trujillo, the 3-year-old colt covered the 1 1/16 miles on a sloppy track in 1:43 2/5 and paid $6.60, $3.60 and $2.60. Gone Astray returned $3.60 and $2.10, while Endymion was five lengths back in third and paid $2.60.

In the co-feature, Beacon Hill Road won a three-horse stretch battle to capture the $60,000 Anderson Fowler Stakes, beating Southern Exchange by a half length in a race that was moved from the turf course to the main track.

Trained by Jason Servis and ridden by Carlos Marquez Jr., the 3-year-old colt took the lead from Valiancy and then held off Southern Exchange in the final strides. Beacon Hill Road covered the 5½ furlongs in 1:02 4/5 and paid $21.20, $11 and $6.60.
