School official: Iowa coach shot at high school
DES MOINES, Iowa — An Iowa high school official says the school’s athletic director has been shot in the school’s weight room.
Aplington-Parkersburg school district board secretary says athletic director Ed Thomas was shot Wednesday morning and was airlifted to a hospital. His condition was not immediately known.
Muller says she believes the alleged shooter has been caught. She says she doesn’t know if it was a student at the central Iowa school.
The district’s superintendent and a guidance counselor are meeting with students who were in the weight room at the time of the shooting.
Thomas is also the school’s football coach.
The school is in Parkersburg, about 80 miles northeast of Des Moines.
