LONDON - Liverpool striker Fernando Torres has appealed to his coach Rafael Benitez to sign one of his friends, in order to help Liverpool win back the Premier League title from Manchester United.

“We finished four points behind United but we are improving. We are getting more points every season. I know that every year we can finish with more points. I have recommended the names to Benitez and I hope we have the money,” News of the World quoted Torres, as saying.

The Spaniard insisted the Reds need players like David Silva, Juan Manuel Mata or David Villa alongside him if they have to end their 20-year drought of titles.

“We have some very good players but maybe we need other players. I hope Liverpool will bring people like Silva, Mata or Villa. These are small players with quality like United had with Carlos Tevez and also with Paul Scholes,” Torres said.

The striker is confident that one of these players could make the difference for Liverpool, as draws in some crucial matches had cost them the championship last time.

“We lost a lot of points against teams in the middle of the table. And we have to improve on that because if we can get 10 more points at home I think we can win the Premier League,” Torres said

Torres, who missed major chunk of the league last season as a result of injury, had scored 14 league goals as Liverpool managed to finish four points adrift of United. (ANI)
