Andy Murray beats Wawrinka in a five set epic under the roof at Wimbledon

WIMBLEDON, England — Andy Murray has won the first match played entirely under the roof on Centre Court at Wimbledon, beating Stanislas Wawrinka in five sets. Monday’s 3-hour, 57-minute match, which ended at 10:40 p.m., was the latest match ever played at Wimbledon. The new retractable roof had been closed for the first time after light rain halted play during the second set of a match between Dinara Safina and Amelie Mauresmo.
Even though the rain stopped, the translucent roof was kept closed, and the matches were played under cover with floodlights.
