Feilhaber brought in for match against Honduras
WASHINGTON — Midfielder Benny Feilhaber has joined the U.S. soccer team for Wednesday night’s first-round match against Honduras in the CONCACAF Gold Cup.
Feilhaber, who played in all five U.S. games during the Confederations Cup, was among seven players added to the pool when soccer’s North and Central American and Caribbean governing body last week allowed the United States to expand its roster from 23 to 30 because it was in back-to-back tournaments.
Feilhaber scored the go-ahead goal in the 2-1 victory over Mexico in the 2007 Gold Cup final. He plays for Aarhus in Denmark.
The Americans opened the Gold Cup on Saturday with a 4-0 rout of Grenada.
