Top-seeded Schiavone reaches semis at Prague Open

PRAGUE — Top-seeded Francesca Schiavone routed Kateryna Bondarenko 6-1, 6-1 on Friday to advance to the semifinals of the Prague Open.

The 30th-ranked Schiavone, who reached the quarterfinals at Wimbledon last month, will next play either fourth-seeded Carla Suarez Navarro of Spain or Timea Bacsinszky of Switzerland in one of Saturday’s semifinals.

Second-seeded Sybille Bammer of Austria defeated seventh-seeded Lucie Hradecka of the Czech Republic 7-5, 5-7, 7-5 and will play third-seeded Iveta Benesova of the Czech Republic, who eliminated Zarina Diyas of Kazakhstan 6-4, 6-1.
