A tweet and a claret jug for Cink
TURNBERRY, Scotland — Stewart Cink became the first British Open champion to show off his prize on Twitter.
Cink is one of the biggest users of Twitter on the PGA Tour with more than 550,000 followers. After defeating Tom Watson in a playoff Sunday, he was asked he had sent out a tweet.
“I haven’t got to my phone yet,” Cink said. “But I’ll probably send one out pretty soon. I don’t know what the subject might be.”
It wasn’t hard for him to decide.
“Not sure what to say yet but this picture should do the trick …” said the tweet.
The picture showed Cink kissing the claret jug, the oldest trophy in golf.
