Querrey earns spot in Indianapolis finals
INDIANAPOLIS — American Sam Querrey has beaten Frank Dancevic of Canada 6-4, 6-4 in the semifinals of the Indianapolis Tennis Championships to earn his first trip to the finals at the event.
The world’s 37th-ranked player will play either Robby Ginepri or John Isner in Sunday’s final. The Americans were playing later Saturday.
The third-seeded Querrey was the only seeded player to make the semifinals. He lost in this round the previous two years.
Querrey reached a tournament final for the third time this season, including Newport on July 12. He won an ATP title at Las Vegas in 2008.
Dancevic, the 2007 runner-up in Indianapolis, had knocked off top-seeded Dmitry Tursunov of Russia in the quarterfinals on Friday. Dancevic was seeking his first ATP title.
