Ching, Davies start at forward for US

MEXICO CITY — Brian Ching and Charlie Davies have been given starts at forward for the United States in a World Cup qualifier against Mexico.

Steve Cherundolo returned at right back Wednesday after missing the first five qualifiers of the year because of a hip injury, and Carlos Bocanegra played left back, as he did in June’s Confederations Cup. Oguchi Onyewu and Jay DeMerit were the central defenders, in front of goalkeeper Tim Howard.

Ricardo Clark, Michael Bradley, Clint Dempsey and Landon Donovan started in the midfield.
