Bond denied for 3rd suspect in boxer killing

ATLANTA — A judge has denied bond for a 30-year-old man charged in the killing of ex-boxing champion Vernon Forrest.

Charman Sinkfield appeared before a magistrate at the Fulton County jail Thursday morning on murder and weapon-related charges.

Police say he was arrested the previous night driving a black sedan on Interstate 20, wearing a wig that gave the appearance of dreadlocks.

Two other men have been arrested and charged with murder in the case, but police said neither of them was the triggerman.

Forrest, a native of Augusta, Ga., who lived in Atlanta, was a member of the 1992 Olympic team along with Oscar De La Hoya. The fighter later won welterweight and junior middleweight titles and compiled a professional record of 41-3 with 29 knockouts.
