SKorean golfers celebrate Yang’s historic PGA win

SEOUL, South Korea — Fans in golf-crazy South Korea are celebrating Yang Yong-eun’s historic PGA Championships win over Tiger Woods.

The victory makes the 37-year-old the first Asian-born golfer, ranked 110th in the world, to win a major golf tournament.

Avid golfer Kim Soo-mi says she woke up at 4 a.m. to watch the final round held in Chaska, Minnesota. She and dozens of others later rushed over to their local indoor driving range to watch the final moments together.

Golf coach Kim Won-jun says he knows Yang personally and says his nerves of steel set him apart.
