Muller pulls out of US Open with knee injury
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. — Gilles Muller of Luxembourg has withdrawn from the U.S. Open because of a knee injury.
The 86th-ranked Muller upset Andy Roddick in the first round of the 2005 U.S. Open and reached the quarterfinals at the American Grand Slam tournament last year.
Pablo Cuevas of Uruguay takes Muller’s spot in the main draw, the U.S. Tennis Association said Monday.
The U.S. Open begins Aug. 31.
