Zettel to be back on skis after knee injury

VIENNA — Super-combined world champion Kathrin Zettel is expected to be back on skis for the first time since injuring her left knee almost five months ago.

Zettel will take part in a training session Thursday at the Moelltaler glacier in Flattach, the Austrian ski federation said Wednesday.

An inflammation of the knee disturbed Zettel’s preparations for the upcoming World Cup season, which starts with a giant slalom in Soelden, Austria, on Oct. 24.

The 23-year-old Austrian has won six World Cup races and claimed her first world title in Val d’Isere, France, in February.
