LUCKNOW - The Madhya Pradesh kho-kho secretary and coach M.S. Bhatt was found dead in his hotel room in Uttar Pradesh’s Ballia district late Thursday night. The police said he was suffering from diabetes and have ruled out foul play.

The Madhya Pradesh team is in Ballia to participate in the 43rd Senior National Kho-Kho Championship and is staying in the Ashoka Hotel owned by a Congress leader Bachcha Pathak.

“He (Bhatt) had diabetes and according to the players accompanying him he also fell ill in the train Wednesday while coming here. However, the matter is being probed,” Superintendent of Police Chandra Prakash told IANS over phone.

His family members tried Thursday to contact him on his mobile and failing to get a response, they called the players.

“Bhatt was found lying dead in his room after we broke open the door,” Prakash added.

The body was sent for postmortem Friday morning and will be handed over to his family members after the police formalities are over, he said.
