Chandigarh to hosts Players Championship golf

CHANDIGARH - The Players Championship presented by Chandigarh Golf Club, offering a total prize-money of Rs.3 million, will be played here Sep 9-12, under the aegis of the Aircel-Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI).

The tournament boasts of a line-up that includes top professionals Gaurav Ghei, Mukesh Kumar, Ashok Kumar, Rahul Ganapathy, Vijay Kumar, Harendra Gupta, Shamim Khan, Harmeet Kahlon, Amandeep Johl and Gurbaaz Mann, to name a few.

Padamjit Sandhu, Director of PGTI, said: “PGTI is happy playing at the Chandigarh Golf Club after 15 months. It is a testing venue, and some of Indias top players have played here and moved on to excel at the international stage. AIRCEL-PGTI are confident this event will help consolidate discussions for bigger events in the future at the Chandigarh Golf Club.”

The Chandigarh Golf Clubs 7,053 yard, par 72 course is known for its tight fairways and thick rough.
