Thomas, Bruins win second in 2 nights
OTTAWA — Drew Fata scored 7:16 into the third period and Tim Thomas made 35 saves in the Boston Bruins’ 2-1 preseason win over the Ottawa Senators on Friday night.
Vladimir Sobotka won a faceoff in Ottawa’s zone and Jeff Lovecchio fed the puck to the point, where Fata drove a slap shot through traffic past Pascal Leclaire.
Brad Marchand scored a power-play goal late in the first period for Boston (5-1-1).
Thomas, last season’s Vezina Trophy winner as the NHL’s top goalie, won for the second time in two nights. He led the Bruins to a 2-1 shootout win in Montreal on Thursday that saw him stop each of the Canadiens’ three attempts after making 33 saves during the game.
