NAGPUR - Rest of India were bowled out for a paltry 260 runs in their first innings on a decent batting track against Mumbai on the first day of the Irani Trophy.

At close of play, Mumbai were 38 for no loss with captain Wasim Jaffer batting on 24 and Sahil Kukreja on 11 at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium.

Opting to bat first, Rest of India were off to a poor start and the batsmen couldn’t capitalise on the starts they got. Fast bowler Ajit Agarkar bagged three wickets while medium pacer Dhawal Kulkarni and off-spinner Ramesh Powar picked up two wickets each.

The spotlight was on Rest of India captain Virender Sehwag, who is making a comeback after recovering from a shoulder injury, but the opener was castled by Agarkar for just 10 runs.

Rest of India were struggling at 141 for six but Ravindra Jadeja played a solid 77 to get a respectable total on board. The other notable contribution came from Abhinav Mukund, who made 47.
