Rest of India extend lead to 382 in Irani Trophy

NAGPUR - Rain played spoil sport but couldn’t stop Rest of India from taking a huge 382-run lead against Mumbai on the fourth day of their Irani Trophy match here Sunday.

Rest of India put themselves in a commandibng position as they made 352 for four in their second innings against Mumbai. Rest of India made 260 runs in the first innings and bowled out Mumbai for 230 runs.

Resuming at overnight score of 171 for no loss, openers Abhinav Mukund made 126 and Murali Vijay struck 91 as the opening wicket partnership made 227 runs.

At stumps, Manoj Tiwary was unbeaten on 80 and Wriddhiman Saha five when bad light forced them to take an early tea. The post-tea session was not played after rains came down heavily at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium.

A Rest of India fast bowler was fined 60 percent of his match fee for using offensive language against Mumbai bowler Dhawal Kulkarni. The Mumbai seamer was let off with an official warning for instigating Sreesanth.
