Radwanska reaches quarterfinals in Linz

LINZ, Austria — Second-seeded Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland defeated Alize Cornet of France 6-4, 7-5 Thursday to advance to the quarterfinals of the Generali Ladies.

Radwanska dictated the pace of the game from the baseline, breaking twice in the first set and three times in the second.

She will play Lucie Safarova of Czech Republic, who beat Urszula Radwanska of Poland 6-4, 6-4 to reach her seventh quarterfinal of the season.

Safarova, who finished runner-up in Quebec last month, dropped serve early in the opening set before breaking back twice. She then broke once more in the second set.

Ioana Raluca Olaru of Romania rallied to defeat German qualifier Julia Goerges 3-6, 6-2, 7-5 in another second-round match.

Olaru will play either top-seeded Flavia Pennetta or Anna-Lena Groenefeld.
