Garcia-Lopez into Stockholm Open quarterfinals

STOCKHOLM — Guillermo Garcia-Lopez beat Simon Greul of Germany 6-3, 7-5 on Wednesday to reach the quarterfinals at the Stockholm Open.

The unseeded Spaniard has not dropped a set in two matches at Royal Tennis Hall.

Second-seeded Tommy Haas, a two-time semifinalist in Stockholm, defeated Florent Serra of France 6-3, 6-4 in the first round. Haas, who broke Serra’s serve once in each set, will play Jarkko Nieminen of Finland in the next round.

Eighth-seeded Feliciano Lopez of Spain beat Ernests Gulbis of Latvia 6-2, 6-4 in another first-round match, while top-seeded Robin Soderling was scheduled to play Giovanni Lapentti of Ecuador later Wednesday.
