French cyclist Duval banned after doping test

AIGLE, Switzerland — The International Cycling Union has provisionally suspended French rider Aurelien Duval for doping with a banned stimulant.

The UCI said Friday that 21-year-old Duval tested positive for norfenfluramine during the Circuit Franco-Belge race on Oct. 1.

The Francaise des Jeux cyclist can ask for his backup sample to be analyzed, and attend the laboratory test.

The UCI will ask the French cycling federation to open a disciplinary case.
