World Cup champ Cologna back training after injury
BERN, Switzerland — World Cup cross-country skiing champion Dario Cologna of Switzerland has resumed training on snow following a month off because of injury.
The Swiss Ski federation said Tuesday that Cologna hopes to begin defending the overall title at his home meeting in Davos on Dec. 12-13.
The 23-year-old Cologna’s preparations for the Winter Olympics season were hit when he damaged muscles in his right thigh during sprint training last month.
He got back on his skis two weeks ahead of schedule at Schnalstal, Italy, and will spend November training in Sjusjoen, Norway.
The World Cup season starts Nov. 21 in Beitostoelen, Norway.
Davos is the fourth stop on the four-month circuit, which breaks for the Feb. 12-28 Vancouver Olympics.
