KANPUR - Indian opener Virender Sehwag, who struck a sparkling 131 has said the host would seek to pressure Sri Lanka on the second day by building on the first day’s solid foundation.

Talking to reporters here, Sehwag said his side would look to post a huge total and put pressure on Sri Lanka.

“I think we are very positive, and hopefully we will bat tomorrow full day and put, you know 700 or 800 runs and after that put pressure on Sri Lanka and try to get early wickets. So, we are very confident at the moment,” he said.

He said he took time to build his innings, as there was no pressure of maintaining run rate.

India amassed 417 for two wickets to take a firm grip on the second test against Sri Lanka on the first day.

Gambhir scored 167 to notch a century in his fourth Test in a row. The duo added a blistering 233 together after skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni won the toss on a good pitch. (ANI)
