Hays returning to US for America’s Cup race
LAKE PLACID, N.Y. — Bobsledder Todd Hays will return to the United States this weekend to further treat a concussion sustained this week while training for a World Cup race in Germany.
Hays was hospitalized after the Wednesday crash. The 40-year-old driver was scheduled to fly back to the United States on Saturday and, if cleared by doctors, could return to racing Dec. 18-20 when the America’s Cup tour stops in Lake Placid.
Even after missing two World Cup races because of a strained hamstring, and now sidelined again by the concussion, Hays remains on track to make the 2010 Olympic team.
