USOC critic, Chicago bid chief join advisory panel
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — One of the U.S. Olympic Committee’s most outspoken critics and the leader of the unsuccessful bid to bring the 2016 Games to Chicago will join former NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue on a newly created USOC advisory panel.
National Governing Bodies Council chairman Skip Gilbert and former Chicago 2016 CEO Pat Ryan were among the 13 people selected Thursday to join Tagliabue to explore the way the USOC does business.
The panel is expected to deliver its findings to the USOC in March. The idea of a panel has been applauded in many corners, though some critics have concerns that it could lead to more upheaval.
