NAPIER - Pakistan gave a befitting second innings reply to New Zealand in the third and final Test being played at the Basin Reserve ground here on Sunday, with openers Salman Butt and Imran Farhat piling up 128 runs for the first wicket in reply to New Zealand’s mammoth 471 all out.

Butt was batting on 66 and Farhat on 55 when stumps were drawn for the day.

Credit for New Zealand’s imposing score went to skipper Daniel Vettori who scored 134 and fast bowler Daryll Tuffey who scored 80. Pakistan leg spinner Danish Kaneria took seven wickets for 168 runs.

New Zealand currently has a lead of 120 runs and is still in a position to dictate terms. (ANI)
