Schmid, Holmlund get back-to-back wins in skicross

SAN CANDIDO, Italy — Michael Schmid of Switzerland and Anna Holmlund of Sweden have won for the second straight day on the World Cup skicross course in Italy.

Americans were shut out of the final Tuesday, the second of six World Cup events that will determine the U.S. Olympic team.

Casey Puckett followed his third-place finish in the opener with an 18th-place result, while Daron Rahlves, trying to qualify for skicross after making the last three Olympics on the Alpine team, was 21st.

Schmid was followed by Audun Groenvold of Norway and Conradign Netzer of Switzerland. Finishing behind Holmlund were France’s Ophelie David and Switzerland’s Sanna Luedi.
