Finland beats Austria 10-1
REGINA, Saskatchewan — Jyri Niemi had two goals and two assists to help Finland beat Austria 10-1 on Wednesday in the world junior hockey championship.
Joonas Rask, Jani Lujunen, Mikael Granlund, Aleksi Laakso and Toni Rajala also scored for Finland, 2-1 in Group B play. Austria dropped to 0-3.
On Thursday, Finland will face Sweden (3-0).
In Group A in Saskatoon, Switzerland beat Latvia 7-5 to improve to 1-2. Tim Weber scored the go-ahead goal for Switzerland in the third period.
Latvia finished group play 0-4.
On Thursday night in Saskatoon, the United States will face five-time defending champion Canada for the top spot in Group A. Both teams are 3-0.
