Randall wins 3rd title at US ski championships
ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Kikkan Randall won the women’s 20-kilometer classical race Wednesday at the 2010 U.S. Cross Country Ski Championships, her third title in five days.
The victory in Anchorage, Alaska, was Randall’s 13th national championship.
Randall stayed among the leaders for all three laps of the race while skiing in challenging conditions that included falling snow and temperatures just below freezing.
She and Holly Brooks, another Anchorage skier, opened a 20-second gap starting the third lap. Randall took the lead for good about a mile later and finished in an unofficial time of 1:14.19.
Brooks was second in 1:14.29. Caitlin Compton of Minneapolis was third.
