US goalkeeper Perkins leaves Valerenga
OSLO — American goalkeeper Troy Perkins is leaving the Norwegian club Valerenga to return to the United States for undisclosed family reasons.
Valerenga says the 28-year-old Perkins, who has made six appearances for the U.S. national team, will return to Major League Soccer but it’s not yet clear which team he will join.
Perkins said Wednesday in a statement that he is “returning to the U.S. to take care of several family issues.”
He joined the Oslo-based Valerenga from D.C. United before the 2008 season. Valerenga has not yet decided on a replacement.
