Norway’s Svendsen wins biathlon World Cup sprint
RUHPOLDIONG, Germany — Emil Hegle Svendsen beat five-time Olympic champion Ole Einar Bjorndalen for a 1-2 Norwegian finish Thursday at a biathlon World Cup 10-kilometer sprint race.
Svendsen covered the distance in 23 minutes, 27.5 seconds to edge Bjorndalen by 3.2 seconds.
Michael Greis of Germany was third, 33.5 seconds behind the winner. All three shot cleanly.
