Alfredsson returns from shoulder injury
MONTREAL — Ottawa captain Daniel Alfredsson had a goal and two assists in his return to the Senators’ lineup Saturday night after missing 11 games because of a separated left shoulder.
Ottawa coach Cory Clouston said Filip Kuba also was ready to return after missing three games because of an unspecified upper-body injury, but the Czech defenceman did not play in Ottawa’s 4-2 victory over the Canadiens.
Alfredsson, a member of Sweden’s Olympic team, was hurt just before Christmas and was expected to be out between four and six weeks.
“During the week I skated back in Ottawa and found I could do a little more battling and shooting, so I felt pretty confident,” Alfredsson said. “The biggest thing was coming here and practicing with the team (on Friday).”
