BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The U.S. Tennis Association has chosen Birmingham, Ala., as the site for its Fed Cup semifinal against Russia on April 24 and 25.
The Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex Arena also was the site of last year’s first-round Davis Cup match against Switzerland.

It will be the eighth matchup between the U.S. and Russia in Fed Cup competition, and the fifth meeting in the semifinals since 1979. The U.S. leads the series 4-3 has lost three in a row.
These will be the first Fed Cup matches in Alabama.
