KOLKATA, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- For sometime it looked like India is on the verge of losing the Number 1 position in the ICC Test Cricket Ranking. The last 3 batsmen of South Africa were playing really well. They batted amazingly in the last 53.3 overs. For 77 minutes there was no wicket for the Indian team. Harbhajan Singh bowled exceptionally well and played a huge role in India’s victory.
Hashim Amla scored 127. In the morning for almost 2 hours, the partnership of Hashim Amla and Ashwell Prince made sure that South Africa is still in the game. However, for the next 80 minutes Harbhajan Singh bowled really well and made it difficult for the South African team to score runs without losing wickets. The South African team again made a comeback. The partnership of Hashim Amla and Wayle Parnell hinted that the role reversal could take place at any time. Both the players effortlessly scored runs. However, Harbhajan Singh did not lose his patience. He was composed and at the same time aggressive. He took some crucial wickets. He was partially responsible for India’s win.
The second Test match played in Eden Gardens, Kolkata would be cherished by the Indian supporters for a long time. The batsmen as well as the bowlers did a splendid job. Nothing could be predicted till the end of the match. This match saw 4 Indian batsmen scoring centuries, which is the second time in India’s Test history. Sachin Tendulkar made his 47th century in the match. Winning the match was really crucial for India for retaining its prestigious number 1 position in ICC Test Cricket Ranking.
