Re: Brian Westbrook

PHILADELPHIA (Gaeatimes.com)- Brian Westbrook, the reputed running back who is known to have been associated with Philadelphia Eagles for the past eight years, has been released by the team on Tuesday. The 30 year old player has been struggling with injuries for the last few years now and also failed to make appearances in as many as eight games in the last season due to injuries which included two concussions as well as an ankle injury. Although it has been revealed that Brian Westbrook has been released by the Eagles, the official release is due to come on March 5.

With the decision to release Brian Westbrook, the Philadelphia Eagles have saved 7.25 million dollars as the player was due for the amount next year. The decision made by the Eagles does not come as a surprise as the player found himself battling injuries for most part of the last season and managed to score only two touchdown last year.

It has come to light that the running back was called up on Tuesday morning by Eagles coach Andy Reid, who informed him about the decision of the team. However, the Eagles coach also emphasized that parting ways with Brian Westbrook was one of the most difficult decisions that the team had to make as the team were aware of the fact that they would have to lose a player as talented and skilled as the running back. At the same time, the coach also implied that the player was surely one of the most versatile running backs to have been ever associated with Philadelphia Eagles.
