VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA, (GaeaTimes.com)- On February 23rd the Olympic Winter Games played witness to one of its grandest performance and toughest competition when Japan’s Mao Asada and South Korea’s Kim Yu-Na along with others took the skating floor. The 19 year old Japanese skater grabbed the second position in the women’s figure skating short program on Tuesday. The event saw some of the most mesmerizing performances which demanded an applause not only from the audience but also world record marks from the judges.
Mao Asada is for years considered as the strongest competitor of Kim Yuna who carried the highest marks on Tuesday’s figure skating short program. However, Kim Yu-Na herself has said that Mao Asada performed perfectly. This view was shared by many from the audience who liked Mao Asada’s performance no less than that of the “Bond Girl” Kim Yu-Na.
Mao Asada performed before Kim Yu-Na and left the audience stunt with her flawless dancing. Her jumps were controlled as she landed and her moves led the audience to cheer out loud. Mao Asada performed to “Khatchaturian” and gave it a brilliant take. She performed a triple axel triple loop combination and with each and every move she added to her score and left the audience to cheer. She scored fifteen points more than her personal best this season. Mao Asada managed to score 73.78.
However, Kim Yuna managed to score 4.72 points more than Mao Asada. The leading world champion put up a show with her triple Lutz- triple toe loop combination which increased her marks on the score board. Mao Asada was happy with her performance as she said that the score difference between her and Kim Yuna generally remains 10 which have decreased drastically. Canada’s Joannie Rochette finished third.
