Sand artist Sudarsan Patnaik creates sculpture of forthcoming Hockey World Cup

PURI - Renowned sand artist Sudarsan Patnaik made a sculpture depicting the forthcoming World Cup Hockey championship, which will start from February 28t New Delhi.

Patnaik and his team worked hard to create a mini-stadium with a hockey stick and a seven-feet high World Cup trophy at the Puri beach.

He used 20 tones of sand and took five hours to complete it.

Former Indian hockey captain Dilip Tirky and other national hockey players joins with him to wish Indian hockey team for their success.

The sculpture was signed by several spectators who sent across their wishes for the Indian hockey team.

“We want to give our wishes to the Indian hockey team. The tournament is being held in India after a long time, in New Delhi, and we hope that our Indian hockey team wins the World Cup,” said Bharat Sahoo, a spectator.

New Delhi is hosting the 12-team Hockey World Cup from February 28 to March 13 and is gearing up for the Commonwealth Games in October. (ANI)
