Wambach scores twice as US tops Norway 2-1
OLHAO, Portugal — Abby Wambach scored both goals as the United States beat Norway 2-1 Friday in the Algarve Cup.
Wambach scored the winner — her 103rd international goal — from close range in the last minute of injury time.
Wambach earned the opening goal in the 13th minute when she ran to a pass from Lori Lindsey, beat a defender and fired a shot into the corner of the net.
Norwegian substitute Isabel Herlovsen evened it in the 61st with a glancing header past Nicole Barnhart.
The U.S. can reach the final Wednesday with only a draw on Monday against Sweden. The Swedes routed Iceland 5-1 in the other group B game on Friday.
In Group A, two-time world champion Germany trounced Finland 7-0 for its second straight win, while two-time Algarve Cup champion China beat Denmark 2-0.
