Kim Yu-Na Olympics 2010: Wins Gold

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA (GaeaTimes.com)- This is surely a performance that all the fans of South Korean figure skater Kim Yu-Na would remember for a long time to come. The 19 year old skater enchanted the audiences present at the Pacific Coliseum on Thursday night at the Winter Olympics 2010 as she established a new record by scoring 228.56 points that made it very evident that the South Korean skater would take home the much coveted gold medal without much competition. The silver medal went to Japanese skater Mao Asada who scored 205.50 points while the bronze medal was grabbed by Joannie Rochette who got 202.64 points.
By scoring the world-record total of 228.56 points, Kim Yu-Na was successful in surpassing her own old record by an amazing 16.11 points. Moreover, the win was all the more special for the reigning world champion as by grabbing the gold medal she earned the honor of becoming South Korea’s first Olympic medalist in figure skating. Expectations had been sky rocketing from Kim Yu-Na in the Olympics 2010 event and it surely had put immense pressure on the reputed figure skater. However, the South Korean did not allow the pressure to impact her performance in a negative way as she gave her best shot to win the gold medal.
After her dazzling performance came to an end, Kim Yu-Na exclaimed that despite her fears about whether she would be able to give her best, she was really glad to have been able to win the gold at Winter Olympics 2010. At the same time, she also expressed astonishment at the astounding score that she had achieved as the spectacular performance left even her overwhelmed.
