Napier withdrawn from Olympic race
WHISTLER, British Columbia — U.S. bobsledder John Napier is out of the Olympic four-man bobsled race because of a strained neck.
Napier crashed in the second run Friday of the four-heat competition. His neck became increasingly sore after the crash. Since that limited his mobility, the decision was made to keep him and USA-2 out of the final two heats.
It was the first Olympics for Napier, who is from Schenectady, N.Y. He was in 17th place after the first two runs, the crash taking away any medal hopes for USA-2.
