CLEVELAND, OHIO (GaeaTimes.com)- The announcement has been made, Derek Anderson is finally released by the Cleveland Browns club which thanked him for his contribution to the team. The announcement was made on Tuesday. The player would have received a roster bonus of $2 millions if his tenure with the team continued until March 19.
The release of the player from the team was being anticipated by many as last month the president of the Cleveland Browns team, Mike Holmgren had reportedly declared that they were not likely to keep Derek Anderson and Brady Quinn together for the coming season. Mike Holmgren had also brought into the team recently the former quarterback player of Seattle Seahawks, Seneca Wallace. That the team was not thinking of including Derek Anderson in this season became prominent from Derek Anderson’s own statement where he has reportedly grudged that none from the club established any contact with him before Tuesday.
Derek Anderson reached high up in his career in the year 2007 where in the Pro Bowl he managed 29 touchdowns and led his team to the win the game with a 10-6 lead. His performance and place in the team was over shadowed after the arrival of Brady Quinn in 2008. Due to the injury of Brady Quinn, Derek Anderson was put to the starting line but his performance was not up to the mark according to many.
Derek Anderson has reportedly given vent to his anger after his release towards the Cleveland fans who cheered while the player got injured during a game in November 2008. He said that he will never forget the incident and called the fans of Cleveland ruthless.
