Nomar Garciaparra Retires

FORT MYERS (GaeaTimes.com)- Nomar Garciaparra, the 36 year old Major League Baseball player announced his retirement from the game on Wednesday. The player, who has put some brilliant performance under the Boston Red Sox team during his tenure with the team for nine years, signed a one day contract with Boston Red Sox to retire from the game wearing the uniform with which he began his career.

Nomar Garciaparra has won many accolades during the early years of his career before passing into the background. He has for remained six-time All Star between the periods 1997 to 2006. However, his career suffered a down turn after he suffered from an injury in 2001. Nomar Garciaparra who was traded by the Boston Red Sox team under a four team deal six years ago, chose to return to the team for a day. The player has mentioned that he always loved to play in front of the Fenway Park fans. On Wednesday, while announcing his retirement Nomar Garciaparra seemed excited about his new life as a sports analyst. Nomar Garciaparra will be joining ESPN as the baseball commentator and would be seen on screen commenting on the Baseball game at “baseball Tonight” reportedly. The retired player revealed to the media that this new assignment will allow him to share his knowledge with the viewers.

On Wednesday, the Boston Red Sox team owner John Henry praised the player and acknowledged his contribution to the team in front of the media. John Henry mentioned that Nomar Garciaparra has become a special part of the history of the club and will be remembered dearly by the club and the team.
