Ryan Villopoto wins in Toronto
TORONTO — Ryan Villopoto raced to his fifth AMA Supercross victory in 10 races this year, leading all 20 laps Saturday night in front of 42,083 fans at Rogers Centre.
“I really wouldn’t be in this position without all of my team and everyone involved,” said Villopoto, the Monster Energy/Kawasaki star from Poulsbo, Wash. “The last couple weeks we’ve been on it and it’s what we need to do.”
Points leader Ryan Dungey, the Rockstar/Makita Suzuki rider from Belle Plaine, Minn., finished second. Dungey has a 17-point lead over Villopoto.
Earlier, GEICO Powersports Honda’s Justin Barcia, from Ochlocknee, Ga., raced to his first career AMA Supercross Lites victory.
